Are you mentioned in AI answers? Measure it every week

SEOLOK asks the questions your customers might ask to ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode every week. It checks whether your name appears in the answer, whether your site is cited as a source and who is recommended, and reports the result with its likely range instead of one confident number.

What question does this module answer?

The way people look for information is shifting. Instead of typing a query into a search box, more people ask a chat assistant, or read the AI summary above the results and move on from there. For site owners the question is widening too: next to "what position am I in?" sits a new one, "am I mentioned in these answers?"

SEOLOK's AI visibility module measures that question every week and shows the result honestly. On the Pro and Agency plans it opens as the AI visibility section of every site's page.

How does it work?

  1. Questions: You choose the questions your customers might type into an AI. SEOLOK suggests some from your keywords, your real Search Console searches and your brand name; you can also write your own.
  2. Weekly measurement: Every Monday morning the questions are asked to ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode. The answers are taken from a Türkiye location, in Turkish. You can also start a round by hand or ask a single question again.
  3. We read the answer with code: Is your name or domain in the answer, is your site cited as a source, which brands are recommended? Plain code reads that; a language model neither produces nor interprets a number.
  4. The result: The overview shows your visibility rate and its likely range, a breakdown by engine and by type of question, the share of competitors and the sources that feed the answers.

What is on the screen?

  • Visibility rate: In the last 28 days, in how many of the measured answers your name appeared or your site was cited, with its likely range.
  • Questions: For each question the latest answer of each AI, with the place where your name appears marked, and the history of measurements.
  • Sources: Which sites feed the answers (forums, news, review sites, competitors) and who stands out while you are missing.
  • Competitors: How often the brands you follow are named in the answers.
  • Pages: Which pages of your site are shown as sources.
  • What to do? A card that turns the answers into concrete, ordered steps: robots.txt, a related page, a source gap, a dominant competitor.
  • Alerts and report: A notification for a real drop or rise and for AI bots being blocked by robots.txt; a section in the PDF report.

How should you read the numbers?

AI answers change from one ask to the next, so SEOLOK never inflates a single measurement:

  • The rate is shown with its likely range.
  • Below 6 measured answers no number is shown: it says "not enough data".
  • The "solid" mark needs at least 60 answers across 5 different questions.
  • A change is computed only on the question and engine pairs measured in both periods, so adding questions never looks like a rise. It is reported when the difference is too large to be explained by chance.
  • There is no position or average-position claim: it is not a meaningful measure for AI answers.

The details are on the methodology page and in the dashboard under "How do we measure?".

What you can try for free today

  • AI visibility checker: enter your site and a question and it is asked to three AIs live; see whether you are named. There is a daily limit.
  • AI bot and llms.txt checker: see what your robots.txt allows AI crawlers to do and whether you have an llms.txt file. The names and behaviour of the crawlers are described in the companies' own documentation; OpenAI explains that it uses separate crawlers for search and for model training in its documentation. llms.txt is not a standard but a proposal; it is unclear which systems take the file into account.

What is known about Google's AI features

According to Google's AI features documentation there are no additional requirements or special optimisations for appearing in AI Overviews and AI Mode; the foundational SEO practices of classic search apply here too. The most solid preparation is therefore a site that can be crawled, indexed and is genuinely useful. Google rank tracking, Search Console analytics and the SEO site audit work together for that.

Who is it for?

  • Content sites and blogs that serve people looking for information.
  • Businesses that want to follow brand awareness not only through classic rankings but through being named in AI answers.
  • Agencies that want to explain new search behaviour to clients with measured data: a separate question list for every client site and a PDF report under your own brand.

Limits and honest notes

  • It is an estimate: AI answers vary; the rate and range summarise the measured answers, not every answer a real user would see.
  • It may differ from your own screen: The answers come from a data service that reads the AI assistants' app answers (Türkiye location, Turkish). What a person sees in their own account, with their history, can differ.
  • Measurement is at country level: There is no AI measurement per city or neighbourhood.
  • Who is named is only partly visible: The competitor share covers the brands you follow and ChatGPT's own brand list; in Gemini and Google AI Mode answers brands you do not follow are not listed. Gemini answers often carry no sources; then "is your name there" is measured and "is your site cited" rarely shows up.
  • Being named is not a sale: Being mentioned or cited in an answer does not guarantee traffic or customers.
  • Access is not visibility: Allowing crawlers does not guarantee you will be mentioned in an answer.

Frequently asked questions

How is AI visibility measured?

The questions are asked to ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode every week. You write them yourself or pick from suggestions SEOLOK draws from your keywords, your Search Console searches and your brand name. Plain code then reads each answer: is your name there, is your site cited, who else is named. No language model produces any number.

Why do I see a range instead of a single number?

An AI can give a different answer to the same question every time, so one measurement is an estimate. The rate is shown with its likely range, no number is shown below 6 measured answers, and a change is only called a change when it is too large to be explained by chance.

Which plans include it and how many questions are measured?

Pro measures 15 questions per site and the Agency plans 20; every question is asked to three AIs. The Free and Tracker plans do not include the module. To try one question for free, use the AI visibility checker.

Does my robots.txt affect this measurement?

The measurement looks at the answers the AIs give; it does not read your robots.txt. But every round checks whether the bots that look at pages while an answer is prepared (ChatGPT's search bot, Perplexity, Claude) can get into your site, and tells you in the dashboard and in an alert if they are blocked.

Do I need to do anything special to appear in Google's AI features?

According to Google's documentation, there are no additional requirements or special optimisations for AI Overviews or AI Mode; foundational SEO best practices apply. A page must be indexed and eligible to be shown in Google Search with a snippet.

What does the 'AI overview' note in rank tracking mean?

Rank tracking records whether an AI overview section appeared on the results page. That describes the layout of the results for that search; it doesn't measure whether your site is cited inside the overview. Being mentioned is measured by the module described on this page.
