Guides to search volume, keyword analysis and long-tail keywords: choosing the right keywords.

Keyword research is about understanding what people type into Google and how close those searches are to your business. Choosing the right keyword decides who a page shows up for: a heavily searched but highly competitive keyword is often out of reach for a new site, while a longer, clearer search can bring real customers even with less volume. Good research does not find the biggest number on the list; it finds the search that fits your page best.

This category is for new site owners, writers building a content plan and agencies putting together keyword lists for clients. The guides answer questions like these: How do you find search volume, and what does the number show and not show? How do you read search intent? Why are long-tail keywords a more realistic starting point? How do you cluster keywords and which page targets each cluster? What do you do when two of your pages compete for the same keyword? Volume estimates differ from tool to tool, so instead of trusting one number the guides suggest checking against your own data.

The easiest way to start with SEOLOK is from your own data. When you connect Search Console, the queries that already earn impressions on Google are listed in the panel; the free keyword opportunity finder also surfaces queries with many impressions and few clicks, and keywords ranking 4–20, in priority order. If you look a keyword up in the Google rank checker you also see its monthly search volume and similar keywords. Topic clusters help you group queries and assign a target page to each group.
