Daily ranks of tracked keywords appear on the dashboard as a table and chart.

Why it matters

The average position in Search Console is an average over all searches; it does not tell you where you stand for one keyword. The rank finder answers that instantly: it checks Google for the place and device you choose and shows your rank, the page that ranks and the top 10 competitors. Once you track the keyword its daily rank builds up, and instead of guessing whether a change worked you can see it on the line.

If you get stuck

"Outside the top 100" means the site does not appear in Google's first 100 results for that keyword; the finder looks as deep as tracked keywords do. Google sometimes shows fewer than 100 results for a search, in which case everything it showed was checked. "Not measured" on a tracked keyword just means no check has run yet; the first one arrives within minutes or overnight. If today's allowance is used up it renews overnight, and a failed check is not deducted. A refused track means your plan's keyword limit is reached.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my rank different from what I see when I search Google myself?
Google results change with location, device and the searcher's history. SEOLOK measures from one place and device that you pick, so a difference of a few places on your own phone or signed-in browser is normal. What matters is not a single number but the direction of the rank measured under the same conditions over time.
Why does this rank not match the average position in Search Console?
Search Console gives an average over all searches and impressions, and different people may have seen different positions for the same keyword. The rank finder measures one keyword at one moment under one set of conditions. They answer different questions; do not treat either as the correct version of the other.
How often are tracked keywords checked?
On the Free plan 10 keywords are checked weekly; on paid plans they are checked daily, with a limit of 100, 300 or 1,000 keywords depending on the plan. Checks are sent overnight and results show up in the table within minutes. If you just started tracking a keyword, its first rank arrives shortly.
Should I pick mobile or desktop?
Pick the device most of your visitors use; for most small businesses that is mobile. Your rank can differ between the two because Google ranks results separately per device. The mobile check uses a phone view. If it matters, you can track the same keyword on both devices separately.
