Which one to choose
Choose SEOLOK if
- Rank tracking, Search Console data and a list of fixes are the whole job, and you do not want to pay for a suite around them.
- You track a few hundred keywords: $19 to $49 a month, against $139 for Semrush's smallest SEO plan.
- You want daily positions and a short, ranked to-do list without learning a large interface.
- You send reports to clients and want your own brand on them from $49 a month, with no add-on to buy.
Choose Semrush if
- You work in SEO or online marketing every day and want keyword research, competitor research and content tools in one account.
- You track a few thousand keywords across up to 40 websites.
- You compare your rankings with up to 20 competitors on the same keywords, which its Rank Tracking page describes.
- You already know the suite and want your tracking inside it.
What Semrush is, and what Rank Tracking is inside it
Semrush sells subscriptions to a toolkit for online marketing. Its rank tracking, called Rank Tracking on its feature page and Position Tracking in its help centre, follows your keywords by location and device, also reports whether you appear in SERP features such as featured snippets and AI Overviews, and lets you add up to 20 competitors to track beside you. Its page describes daily ranking updates, automated e-mail reports and white-label reporting.
On the prices page the tracking is bounded by the plan: 500 tracked keywords and 5 websites to monitor on the entry SEO plan, 1,500 and 15 on Pro+, 5,000 and 40 on Advanced. The same subscription also includes the toolkit around it, such as keyword research and a site audit, per its pricing page.
What SEOLOK does differently
SEOLOK starts from the data you already own. You connect Google Search Console and Google Analytics with one read-only sign-in, and SEOLOK keeps your imported history in your account (Google keeps 16 months; SEOLOK keeps the days it has imported). Your keyword positions are measured daily on every paid plan, and the three are read together to produce jobs: pages just off page one, titles with a low click rate, pages that compete with each other.
The result is a short list instead of a dashboard. For each job you see why it is on the list, what it could be worth and what to change; when you mark it done, SEOLOK checks the page and compares before and after. People who are not full-time SEOs tend to value that more than another report.
- One job, priced for it: $19, $49 or $149 a month, a free plan for one site and a free rank checker without an account.
- Reports under your own brand are included from Pro. At Semrush, white-label reporting is the Pro Report add-on, $20 a month.
- Alerts when a tracked keyword drops, when Google traffic falls, when the site is down or its certificate is about to expire.
Where Semrush is stronger
Semrush wins wherever the job is bigger than tracking:
- Breadth. Keyword research, competitor analysis, a site audit and the other tools are in one subscription; SEOLOK does not have a keyword database and does not try to.
- Scale. Up to 5,000 tracked keywords and 40 websites on its biggest listed plan, against 1,000 keywords and 30 sites on SEOLOK's.
- Competitor tracking. Its Rank Tracking page describes tracking up to 20 competitors' rankings on the same keywords. SEOLOK watches competitors' pages for changes and compares two sites in a free tool, but does not track their rankings keyword by keyword.
- SERP features and AI. Rank Tracking reports whether you appear in features such as featured snippets, video carousels, local packs and AI Overviews; SEOLOK marks when a result of that kind shows up for your keyword, but does not follow it as a series.
What the same job costs
Monthly-billing prices, as each company lists them on the day we checked. Semrush's pages show lower prices for annual billing ($117.33 a month for the SEO plan); SEOLOK charges ten months for twelve.
| What you track | SEOLOK and Semrush |
|---|---|
| 30 keywords on one site | SEOLOK: Tracker, $19 a month, covers 100 keywords daily (the free plan covers 10, weekly). Semrush: the first paid plan, SEO, is $139 a month (its free plan has one demo project). |
| 300 keywords on up to 10 sites | SEOLOK: Pro, $49 a month. Semrush: the SEO plan lists 500 keywords on 5 websites for $139 a month, and Pro+ lists 15 websites for $299. |
| 1,000 keywords on up to 30 sites | SEOLOK: Agency, $149 a month. Semrush: Pro+ covers 1,500 keywords on 15 websites for $299; Advanced covers 40 websites for $549. |
| Branded client reports | SEOLOK: included from Pro. Semrush: the Pro Report add-on, $20 a month. |
The prices do not buy the same thing. At $139 a month Semrush includes a toolkit that SEOLOK has no counterpart for. Whether that is worth it depends on whether you use those tools; if you only want rank tracking, most of it will sit unused.
A quick way to choose
- Write down the three things you do in SEO every week. If all three are "check rankings", "see what changed in Search Console" and "decide what to fix", SEOLOK covers them.
- If one of them is "find new keywords", "study a competitor's strategy" or "plan content with data", you need research tools, and Semrush (or another suite) is the better home for that work.
- Count the keywords. Under 300, the difference in cost is large. SEOLOK's plans stop at 1,000 keywords; for more, look at Semrush's Pro+ (1,500) and Advanced (5,000) plans.
- Use the free options before paying for either: SEOLOK's free rank checker and 14-day trial, Semrush's free plan and its 7-day trial.
SEOLOK vs Semrush: frequently asked questions
Is SEOLOK a Semrush alternative?
For tracking Google rankings, reading Search Console data and reporting to clients, yes. It is not an alternative to the rest of the suite: it has no keyword research database, no advertising or content tools.
How much cheaper is SEOLOK than Semrush?
For a few hundred keywords, SEOLOK's plans are $19 to $49 a month; Semrush's first paid plan, SEO, is $139 a month with monthly billing, or $117.33 a month billed annually. The two include different things.
Do both update positions daily?
SEOLOK updates daily on every paid plan and weekly on the free plan. Semrush's Rank Tracking page describes daily ranking updates.
Can SEOLOK replace Semrush for my agency?
If your work is tracking, Search Console reporting and branded client reports for up to 30 sites, it can. If you also rely on Semrush for keyword research or competitor data, keep it for that and use SEOLOK for the tracking and the to-do list.
Does Semrush have a free plan?
Its prices page lists a Free plan with one demo project and a 7-day trial of its toolkits. SEOLOK has a free plan for one site and a 14-day Pro trial with no card.
